No. 4 seed Oklahoma eliminates No. 1 seed Texas to advance in Big 12 Baseball Tournament

As Head Coach Skip Johnson put it, “It’s just the Oklahoma way.”

No. 4 seed Oklahoma shuts down No. 1 seed Texas with a 3-1 victory and eliminates the Longhorns from the Big 12 Baseball Tournament on Thursday morning.

The Sooners faced trouble after being shutout yesterday falling to Baylor 4-0. They entered this morning’s matchup against Texas, a known rival of the Sooners in athletics, with hopes of keeping their tournament presence active.

Kyler Murray kicked things off sending a hot stride down the third base line bringing Cade Harris home and giving the Sooners an early 1-0 lead in T1.

Sooners were able to get runs in T1, T3 and T5, as well as hold the Texas Longhorns to one run in the fifth inning.

Head Coach Skip Johnson, junior Blake Brewster and junior Domenic DeRenzo were present for postgame questions, and here’s what they had to say about their win over the Longhorns:
