We are only in day twelve of the Lincoln Riley Era, and Riley came out swinging in the recruiting world.

Lincoln Riley Gets His First Commitment As The Head Coach At Oklahoma

His first line of business was reaching out to Putnam City High School defensive end Ron Tatum. It has been reported that Tatum was the first recruit Coach Riley reached out to the night after he was hired. That first conversation led to Tatum’s commitment to Oklahoma just five days later:

Tom Herman originally came across the Red River and stole Tatum away from Oklahoma back in April. However, momentum from that day slowly began to sway back in Oklahoma’s favor. Lincoln Riley then was able to seal the deal last Monday when the current 4-star and Top 150 recruit flipped his commitment back to Oklahoma, becoming Riley’s first ever recruiting commitment. Defensive Line Coach, Calvin Thibodeaux, took to Twitter to celebrate the commitment with an “all-time” coaches tweet. This tweet was in response to a Texas coach saying, “ain’t no river wide enough” after Tatum’s original commitment to Texas:

Blast From The Past: Tramonda Moore Comes Back Into Oklahoma Picture

Two years ago, Offensive Line Coach Bill Bedenbaugh had to cool off his recruitment of John Marshall High School offensive linemen Tramonda Moore due to his potential qualification issues of getting into school at Oklahoma. However, Moore put in the work at Independence Community College and was able to earn another Oklahoma offer just yesterday morning. It did not take long as the JUCO product pulled the trigger just ten hours later:

Moore was an Army All-American coming out of high school and considered a top offensive linemen in the entire country. This is just another commitment that will add to the elite and deep offensive line group Bill Bedenbaugh has in Norman as Moore is now considered one of the best JUCO players in the country.

That makes Lincoln Riley’s first two commitments coming from the state of Oklahoma. Two more Oklahoma kids are on their radar as well with Midwest City’s Jalen Redmond and Owasso’s Josh Proctor. The message is simple: Keep the Oklahoma kids home. Proctor is currently committed to Ohio State and Redmond is flirting with Nebraska and Ole Miss right now.

The use of the emoji “👀” has been common the last week and a half to foreshadow that something good is about to happen for Oklahoma. The “#RileyReign” real and recruits are beginning to buy-in to what Riley is selling.

NOTE: Riley may not be done as this week either as there is a lot of smoke of multiple commitments for the 2018 and 2019 recruiting classes.
