FanDuel Ad Uses Images of Georgia Tech Players

“As if daily fantasy sites weren’t loathsome and exploitative enough, we learned last week that FanDuel has, for weeks, been using an image of former Georgia Tech football stars Roddy Jones and Jason Peters without their knowledge, their compensation, or permission from Georgia Tech’s athletic department.

The image, which appears in numerous FanDuel ads, was lifted straight from the 2011 Yellow Jackets football schedule calendar:

So you had to have been really looking to even notice this use from a four year-old schedule poster, but sure enough it’s the same image.

Let’s chalk it up to an honest mistake. Surely the person designing the set needed a quick, generic shot of some football players. First image that popped up could have been the 2011 Georgia Tech poster which was then cropped. Because who is going to notice something that small?
