Donovan on Roberson’s availability for Sunday scrimmage: Will be “evaluated after tomorrow’s practice to make a decision on minutes”

OKLAHOMA CITY — Billy Donovan said that he will know more tomorrow after Friday’s practice what Andre Roberson’s status will be for Sunday’s closed intersquad scrimmage.

I think the medical staff with Andre will probably give me some direction on what the minutes would look like,” Donovan said today. “Because we have another practice tomorrow, that’s probably something that would be evaluated after tomorrow’s practice going into the scrimmage on Sunday to make a decision on minutes.”

Donovan did stress that the team does not consider Roberson “day-to-day” in the normal sense. Rather, they are keeping an eye on how his body reacts to the rigors of fully practicing again.

“I don’t mean to say that Andre is day-to-day because he’s obviously not day-to-day,” Donovan said. “Because he’s just got back to training camp, back to doing things, obviously we’re taking inventory of how he’s feeling, how he feels the next day, all those kind of things.”

It appears Donovan expects Roberson to play. The question remains regarding the amount of time he can play.

“That’s probably something that would be evaluated after tomorrow’s practice going into the scrimmage on Sunday to make a decision on minutes.”

Roberson has been “full go” since the start of training camp this week. According to Chris Paul, Roberson may have been running at full speed a few weeks prior to camp.

The trade happened and I came here and he was sort of rehabbing and then I came and we played pick-up and I think that was his first time playing,” Paul said Tuesday. “So being out as long as he’s been, you’ve got to be eager and want to get out there. It’s just good to see him around because he’s such a positive guy.”

Sunday’s scrimmage is not open to the public. You can stream the game on the Thunder’s Twitter account and Facebook page as well as the team website.
