Dallas Cowboys Trade for Cassell

After Tony Romo went down this past Sunday night against the Eagles, the Cowboys looked toward backup QB Brandon Weeden. Now in the starting position, for the moment, Weeden will also need a backup.

“With Tony Romo stuck on IR-Boomerang with a broken clavicle, the Dallas Cowboys are making a run on quarterbacks.

Dallas traded for Bills quarterback Matt Cassel on Tuesday, the team announced. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport was the first to report the news. The Bills sent a 2017 seventh-round pick to the Cowboys for a 2017 fifth-round pick as well, NFL Media’s Albert Breer reported, according to a Cowboys team source.”

The Cowboys will assume Cassel’s contract which earns him roughly $1.7 million compared to Weeden’s $600,000 salary in his second year of a two year deal.
