Croatia beats England in Overtime

By scoring in the first five minutes, England verified that they came to play today. When England received a free kick, Kieran Trippier took advantage of it by shooting the ball into the top right corner of the net to put England ahead early. But Croatia did not let this early goal get the better of them and came out stronger during the second half. In the 68thminute, Croatia’s Sime Vrsaljko crossed the ball to Ivan Perisic who shot with his left foot and the ball glided into the botton left hand corner of the net to tie the game. Since neither team scored again during regulation, the game went into overtime. Ivan Perisic proved to be the key to victory for Croatia after he headed a pass to Mario Mandzukic to finish his shot into the bottom right corner, giving Croatia the goal that won them the game. It looks like football will not be coming home for England and Croatia will face France for the championship.
