Bubba golf reigns at Augusta

Bubba golf reigns at Augusta

A guy named Bubba might just end up winning the most green jackets of all.

Yes, it’s crazy to think Bubba from Baghdad (Florida) could win more than Jack (Nicklaus) from Mount Olympus.

Unlikely? Yes. Impossible? Nope.

Nicklaus has six. Bubba has two so far, but I’m betting that Watson winds up with at least four before he’s done.

And I’m betting on Bubba to win another one this week.

My top 5 picks, plus a sleeper.

1. BUBBA WATSON

Bubba has all the shots for this course. His length and ball flight are tailor-made (sorry Ping) for Augusta National. He’s already won this year on a tough layout at Riviera. If Bubba putts well, he wins.

2. JASON DAY

The Aussie broke through and won his first major last year at the PGA. He’s nearly won here before, and now has what it takes to close the deal. I’d be shocked if the number one player in the world isn’t a serious factor Sunday.

3. ADAM SCOTT

Another Aussie playing well who already owns a green coat. Scott grew up idolizing Greg Norman (fellow Australian) and has already done something the “Shark” couldn’t do… finish the job at Augusta National. We’ll see how that new putter performs on the slippery greens at the Masters.

4. PHIL MICKELSON

Never count “Lefty” out here. The 45-year old is driving the ball well and knows the nuances of Augusta like Einstein knows relativity. Mickelson has won three green jackets already, and would’ve won a fourth last year if it weren’t for a tremendous performance by Jordan Spieth.

5. JORDAN SPIETH

I don’t think Spieth is playing that well by his standards right now. However, in his two trips as a pro at Augusta, Spieth has a win and a runner-up finish. His course management and sheer competitiveness can’t be ignored.

Sleeper- DANNY WILLETT

The Englishman is relatively unknown for the number-12 player in the world, but has the game to be a “major” factor this week.

Let’s do this! Can’t wait.
