BREAKING: Baker Mayfield Will Not Start Against West Virginia

After making an obscene gesture towards the Kansas sideline during Oklahoma’s game last Saturday, Lincoln Riley just announced at his weekly press conference that Baker Mayfield will not start against West Virginia. Mayfield will also not be a team captain for Saturday’s game.

Mayfield is the Heisman front-runner and playing his last game inside Gaylord-Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on Saturday. He has thrown for 3,816 yards this season with 39 total touchdowns his redshirt senior season. Oklahoma’s backup quarterback, Kyler Murray, will be making his first career start at Oklahoma against West Virginia. The redshirt sophomore has thrown for 307 yards and two touchdowns in limited action this season.

Baker Mayfield will still be available on Saturday.
