Bob Stoops not ready to go into TV so soon after retirement

The speculation started the minute Bob Stoops retired — what would the Oklahoma coach’s next move be?

Would he try to coach again at a different school? Would he take a television or radio job? Would he open a chain of barbecue restaurants in Norman, Okla.?

The list goes on, but the most common thought was Stoops might take a cushy television job at some point.

That day isn’t coming anytime soon, however, according to The Oklahoman columnist Berry Tramel’s recent interview with Stoops.

Television or radio, for instance. All kinds of opportunities would await Stoops if he made himself available, but he’s thought it through.

“I’m a little leery,” he said. “I feel like I’m still close enough to it, I gotta be careful…
