AP Top 25 poll: Sooners extend NCAA record for top-five finishes; Cowboys at No. 11

Oklahoma was No. 5 in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll released early Tuesday morning.

It is the second consecutive season that the Sooners landed at No. 5 in the final AP ranking. OU (11-2) won the Sugar Bowl against Auburn, repeated as Big 12 champions and – following Alabama’s loss to Clemson in Monday’s College Football Playoff championship game – possesses the nation’s longest current winning streak at 10 games.

Oklahoma State, which captured the Alamo Bowl with a convincing win over Colorado, was No. 11….
