Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterback and FOX NFL broadcast Troy Aikman joined Ed Werder and Matt Mosley’s DoomsDay podcast to talk Dez Bryant, Dak Prescott and more. Here are some highlights:

Werder: How pivotal a year is this for Dak Prescott?

Aikman: I think it’s probably more pivotal for Jason Garrett. I think Dak’s going to be around a while. It’s a big year; they’re all big years. I think last year was a big year for him as well – it’s the nature of playing quarterback in the NFL.

There’s a lot of expectations to go out and play at a high level that allows your team to have success. He’ll be just fine: I think he’s an exceptional young man who has it together. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s somewhere throwing the football or running sprints as we speak and studying film and all those things. I think he’s highly motivated to be great… and going to have an outstanding season.

On Troy’s NFL general manager dreams

Aikman: I’d have to take a hard look at it. I do believe there’s a frontier for me beyond television. I’ve loved my broadcasting career, it’s been a lot of fun and…
