Holgorson: The Big 12 Gunslinger is up Next for OU

DanaBrash, Bold, Crazy, Inventive these are just some of the words used to describe Dana Holgorsen. The Red Bull-guzzling coach brings the number 23 West Virgina Mountaineers to Norman on Saturday. Holgorsen’s players embody his persona and after last year’s game proved to be so chippy just like their coach this game will be personal. Holgorsen could be considered a bit of an odd duck, but he is the type of guy you want running your program especially if you’re looking to for an edge. During Media Days, Holgorsen was asked what would be considered a success for WVU this season. He replied “A Big 12 Championship.” West Virginia was picked to finish behind Texas in the media poll. That’s 7th in the conference. At best WVU was a dark horse who might end up as a surprise. And there was there coach saying they were not only good enough to compete for a championship, but they should expect to win it. How could you not want to play for a guy like that?
All West Virgina has done this season is demolished its opponents by scoring 40 points each game and allowing no more than 17. Bob Stoops and company had better have used this last week to eat, sleep and drink football. Because the Mountaineers are coming to prove they belong in the same conversations that OU, TCU, Baylor, and OSU belong in, anything less won’t be good enough for Holgorsen or his team.
